Description

It was relatively fast (for me, at lest), but it took too long for a fanart to finish. Roughly 4 days, on and off whenever I get free time.

Hope you guys like it.

-99% Illustrator 10
-1% Photoshop (Photoshop was used here to make raster images of the texture in mai's clothing 'coz raster images warp better. )

edit 04/24/05 12pm: Removed Neutral greys from the piece. Thanks to arenhaus for the crit.

You have used neutral gray, which never works together with color. Neutral gray is pure colorless brightness which has nothing to give to color harmony, so it sucks life out of the color scheme or looks as a hole in the canvas, depending on how much is used. Always colorize your grays.

It looks like the front of her hair doesn't fit with the back hair. Good job tho. Very clean and sleek.

I see you put in time and detail all around her but when it came to hair looks like you gave up
I think some more tweaking in the hair and the black line thats around her hair I think is too thick
hmmmm or maybe no line at all around her...
its very cool did you sketch this out first?

kittyKat - Yup. I still sketch stuff first on paper. Yeah, the line does kinda make her a little bit too heavy... But that's an experiment, so I might not use that in future works.

Quite an Alfonse Mucha influence here (can't believe no one caught it yet).

Interesting pose and execution, although I don't know if the pinkj background elements really fit with the color scheme of the main focus...
